Masi – 3V Barcelona

  • The Bike – 1992 Masi 3V Limited Edition Barcelona Olympics commemorative.
  • The Story – Masi was one of the first to try over-sized tubings and developed the internal lugs to join the tubes.  The 3Vs were the bikes built using this technique by Masi over a period of about 20 years.  Acquired this bike from the original owner in Southern California.  Bike was only a few years old when I got it but it looked like it had spent a lot of time near the beach.  The PO had bought a carbon fork, sent it to Masi (Jim Allen?) to have it painted and decaled to match the original steel fork.  It had the carbon fork when I got it but luckily he was able to find the original fork and sent it to me.  Equipped with Campagnolo Record group.
  • The Cool Factor – Masi built these bikes to commemorate the success the company had in the Olympic Games.  This is #119 of a total of 200 built.
