- The Bike – 1984 Colnago Equalateral with Campagnolo 50th Anniversary Group.
- The Story – I call this my “when I grow up, I want to be like Matty” bike. A while back when a bunch of us were talking bikes and the topic of Colnago and Equalateral came up. We discussed the merits of them and their rarity which led Matt Gorsky to quietly say “I have one and it is equipped with a 50th Anniversay Group”. About 8 or 9 years ago, I bought a partial 50th Anni. Group from a local guy that’s known to cruise the local shops for bikes to part out. Over the years I gathered the missing parts and replaced ones that were in poor condition. I came upon this Equalateral and acquired it. Apparently, only a few hundred of these were made before Colnago pulled the plug on them. I have to agree with Ernesto that it looks funky. I don’t dislike the look nor do I love it. However, it is rare and “hey Matty, I have one too!” Three of my Colnagos have crimped tubings and they are all different. This one has four grooves forming a diamond shape.
- The Cool Factor – Now that I have one maybe I can hang with the big boys?
